BIOGRAPHY

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Ecthirion is an orchestral metal began that begun around 2008 by guitarists Gabriel Neale and Simon Treasure. The band was formerly called Axiom but prior to their first release 'Apocalyptic Visions' in 2009 the name was changed to Ecthirion as it was a completely unique name which no other band had. The band, originally playing viking and power metal, decided to break away from the limitations of these styles in an atempt to create something new. In 2008 Eugen Dodenhoeft offered to take lead vocals on one track as well as mix the whole EP. Ecthirion had many guests perform on its first release including Azahel Frost from Frost Like Ashes and Josh Edwards, a touring clasical vocalist with an outstanding operatic voice.

The second release was due to be a full length but was cut down to 5 tracks due to the amount of time a full length would take to make. The release was titled 'Through My Eyes' and was written between 2009 and 2011 and recorded in 2010 and 2011 mainly by Gabriel Neale as part of his degree at Huddersfield university. It has a much more realistic sound with many parts of the orchestra such as Trombone, Flute, French Horn and Violin having been scored and recorded by Gabriel. The drums where recorded over 3 days by Dave Lawson and Gabriel Neale who recorded talanted drummer Spencer Lee. Lee's style is along the lines of metalcore so it brought another influence to the music.

The band's vision is to be a beacon of light in dark places, in a world where evil dominates it is easy to follow what evil authorities and media dictate. Ecthirion aim to give all the credit for any success to God as they believe he is the source of all things good. The band aren't trying to be dark in any way and do not want to be mistaken for a Satanic act, the lyrics make this completely clear and are far from Satanic. The lyrics are writen from a personal standpoint and Ecthirion hope them to be an encouragement to listeners.

The band has never had a permenant vocalist or drummer but aims go get a full lineup over time as the right contacts are formed.
